Channelnews has the pleasure and priviledge to interview Miss Shalini Ramphul who is the young and dynamic director of Total Media Ltd and Hot Steppers agency. Shalini Ramphul has a broad experience in organising fashion shows, concerts other events at international level. Grown up in UK, this young lady has personal contacts with many bollywood producers and directors in India.
It is the first time that a Comedy Musical Bollywood Theatre is being organised in Mauritius. « Bollywood Showbiz is a Comedy Musical Theatre presented by Total Media. We shall then turn the musical theatre into a short Bollywood movie later on. Genre of movie: Comedy & Romance, based on marriage and youth. It will be presented in English and Hindi. This project will be released in 3 forms: a book, 2 staged shows of musical theaters due on Sat 10 Aug & Sat 7 Dec 2019 at Serge Constantin Theatre (Vacoas) and a movie to be released in MCine Trianon/Novelty cinema(s) as well as in BAFTA, London Film Festival and in India », explain Shalini Ramphul.
The director of Total Media Ltd tells us that there is a big preparation to organise this Comedy Musical Theatre. According to her, it requires a lot of work, rehearsal, quite same like a bollywood movie with set ups and so on.
The event will also comprise of some singers which will perform on some lovely tracks for the audience, fashion shows by Ashiana, Farhaaz Doomun, Hyder Ali & Hot Steppers, classic & electric guitar performances by Gerard Rajaram & Dhol players performances by Dhol Blasters.
The artists participating in Bollywood Showbiz are from Mauritius, India, England, Ireland, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Through Bollywood Showbiz, I aim to build up a bridge between Mauritius, India and England in terms of exchange of artists and Media business activities. This will enable artists from Mauritius to get opportunities to work with foreign producers such as for: films (shooting in Mauritius and abroad as main characters and not as junior artists or extras), music videos, calendar photoshoots, musical theatres etc.
“Bollywood Showbiz is also a competition. Each artist is representing his/her own country. We intend to have a jury panel which consist of film professionals from England. There will be trophies awarded by the jury for these categories: Best Overall Performer, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Comedian, Best Dancer, Gold Face & Special Recognition Awards. One jury member is a Film Director & Producer from London.
His name is Mr Raj Rajilal. He has worked in Hollywood productions such as Harry Potter 3 & 4, Slumdog Millionaire, Elizabeth Golden Age & Casino Royale and Bollywood productions such as Bahubali 2, Housefull 3, Shivaay etc”, relates Shalini Ramphul.

The story of the Bollywood Showbiz :
The story evolves around 3 young Punjabi boys named Veer, Karan & Jay. They just graduated from Kingston University in London. They are full of life. Partying, clubbing, fun, music, dance, girls…that’s their life! In short, full on Masti!!! Their families belong to the UK Punjabi Community. Veer’s parents then decide to find a bride for their beloved son and finally get him married. They then introduce him to several girls. His two loyal friends, Karan & Jay, try their best to stop Veer’s wedding. Veer keeps refusing to get married till the day he finally meets his ladylove named Sonia. Bollywood Showbiz is a journey which teaches Veer, Karan & Jay the importance of love and relationships.
